Tom Byers is a Principal in the Tax Department of E&T and heads the firm’s Estate Tax Planning and Compliance Group.  In addition to working with clients to advise them on tax ramifications of business transactions, he is also responsible for helping clients define their personal and estate tax goals.  Tom can also help to develop plans to assist clients in achieving their goals related to building and transferring wealth.  His experience has included consulting in merger and acquisition projects, tax issues facing closely held businesses and their owners, entity selection issues, and litigation planning.  Tom has a concentration in corporate and partnership taxation with extensive experience in real estate operation and development and investment partnerships.  He is responsible for individual tax, divorce, retirement, and estate planning.

Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Accounting from Elizabethtown College and a Master of Taxation degree from the University of Baltimore.  He has also successfully completed the College of Financial Planning’s Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) Professional Education Program and holds the CFP® designation.
